Apply a shadcn preset with the CLI

bashMay 6, 2026

Update a project's shadcn config and UI components from a preset using the official init command.

Run the official shadcn CLI with the --preset flag to align an existing project with a preset's components.json and ui/ components.

terminal
npx shadcn@latest init --preset [PRESET-ID]

The CLI will prompt you to confirm a few things, including updating components.json and overwriting files in your ui/components directory. Review the diffs before accepting if you've made local tweaks.
